Organic Analysis – Free half term A Level chemistry class for February 2025
It’ll be half term before you know it, and I like to give a free online class when I can in the holidays to help A Level chemistry students. This year, after a quick poll of students and teachers I’ll be focusing on organic analysis – particularly ¹H and ¹³C NMR.

What will the organic analysis class cover?
This class will cover the essentials of organic analysis for A Level chemistry, including empirical formula calculations, infrared spectroscopy and mass spectroscopy. We will then focus on NMR spectroscopy, in particular how to solve more challenging problems. There will be lots of tips for exam technique and worked examples, as well as opportunities to ask questions.
Who is the class suitable for?
This class is suitable for Year 13 students or any student sitting A Level chemistry exams this summer (2025). The material will be suitable for AQA, OCR, Edexcel and WJEC exam boards. The class is particularly suitable for students who are aiming for B grade and above – you should have a reasonable grasp of organic chemistry including the main functional groups. Teachers and tutors may also find the content useful to help support their students.
For year 12 students, you probably won’t have covered enough organic chemistry just yet, but feel free to check out my previous online classes on YouTube such as titration calculations or calculations from experiments.
Will the class be recorded?
The class will be recorded, so if you can’t make the live class on Thursday 20th February, or want to watch it again you will be able to watch the recording. If you only want recording access, make sure you are signed up to my mailing list as I will send out a recording to everyone signed up.
