Year 13 classes are on Wednesday evenings, starting from September 16th (AQA: 6pm, OCR A: 7pm). Year 12 classes are on Tuesdays at 5.30pm, starting on 15th September. There are three live classes per month, with the 4th week being focused on the assessment along with recorded material to support exam technique.

All classes are delivered on Zoom. Students access the links via the online course portal, which is also where they can access the resource bank, assignments and weekly quizzes so everything is in one place. Students can interact via the chat during lessons and are encouraged to ask and answer questions.

All students will have access to a quick quiz before each lesson – I strongly encourage that you do this (it only takes 10-15 minutes) every week as it helps me assess the knowledge of the class and tailor my teaching (plus it gets your brain into gear on the topic we’re covering!). It’s a good idea to have a periodic table and calculator for every class, along with some paper, notebook or whiteboard so you can work things out and make notes.

All classes are run by me, Claire C-K. I’m a fully qualified chemistry teacher with over 20 years of experience as a teacher, tutor and A Level examiner. I have enhanced DBS and extensive experience teaching online; I’ve also worked with exam boards and universities as a resource developer and teacher trainer, so you’re in great hands!

For the first half term we cover familiar content that is designed to ‘bridge the gap’ – either between GCSE and A Level, or between Year 12 and Year 13. These topics are essential foundations, and we focus on more challenging examples and exam technique – the in depth examples that you might not have understood or had time to cover in class. By the second half term, all students will have covered enough content in school for us to agree on a core curriculum and I check in with students regularly to see which topics and skills are a priority.

Every fourth week there will be no live group class. Instead, you get a chance to catch up with materials and you’ll be given an assessment task to complete under ‘exam conditions’. The assessment will take about 50-60 minutes and will include topics we covered in class that month, as well as a more general focus on exam technique. You can choose to print it out, fill in using an iPad or tablet or just write your answers on paper.
Students in ‘Masterclass Live’ can access a walkthrough video and mark scheme once they complete the assignment, and use this to self-mark. Students in ‘Masterclass Plus’ can submit their assignment for it to be fully marked, with personalised feedback and advice given alongside the video walkthrough and mark scheme.

The aim of this programme is to offer a complete support package for exam technique and study skills – not just weekly topic-based lessons. As students work through the materials in the resource bank or the weekly retrieval practice quizzes, they can ask questions using the ‘comment’ function on each lesson – I will do my best to reply quickly (usually within 24-48 hours)! If students have a particular example of an exam question or something more lengthy they want to work through, they can email me and I can try to incorporate it into group lessons, point towards a useful revision resource, or suggest a 1:1 session.

The prices for each tier and year group are shown above, along with what is included. Year 12 prices range from £45-£70 per month and for Year 13 £65-£95 per month. Bookings are taken online through the website and you will be charged once per month. You can cancel your subscription at any time; recurring payments will stop and you retain access to materials until the end of your current prepaid month. You can resubscribe at a later date (assuming there are spaces in the class) and your course progress will be saved.

Year 12 students have access to the Year 12 resource bank, live lessons and recordings. Year 13 students get access to both Year 12 and Year 13 resource banks, Year 13 live lessons, plus recordings of Year 12 lessons each week as well. This gives them a more complete package to not only cover recent topics but also consolidate all the past materials. In addition, Year 13 assessments are slightly longer.

I put a lot of work into my group programme, as well as writing predicted papers, mock exams and preparing exam revision courses. Therefore, I have very limited space for regular weekly 1:1 tuition. However, I do offer a selection of 1:1 slots each month which are bookable by students on my group class. These slots cost £65 for one hour – priority booking is given to students in Masterclass Plus and any remaining slots are then offered to Masterclass Live students. This is a great alternative to booking a weekly one to one slot, as it is more cost effective and flexible – allowing you to book more intensive support when you really need it.
