Good luck to all students receiving results tomorrow!

This is just a short post, because I don’t feel I have much to add to the raging debates all over the news and social media at the moment.

There is a lot of anxiety, a lot of anger, a lot of confusion from teachers and students alike. Nobody wants to hear about ‘unprecedented times’ and nobody wants to hear about statistical models.

So I will just say what I say to any student worried about their results, for any subject, in any year. Things might not go the way you want, but there is always a way.

  • You are not alone.
  • Your grades do not define you.
  • Your grades do not determine the course of the rest of your life.
  • In a year’s time, you will look back on this and realise it didn’t turn out anywhere near as bad as you thought it might. If I’m wrong, you can email me one year from now and I will send you an Amazon voucher. Or something.
