The 5-Day Chemistry Comeback Challenge: Get Ready for Year 13!

If you’re about to start Year 13 A-Level Chemistry, there’s a good chance your memory of Year 12 topics feels a little… patchy. That’s completely normal — after a long summer, it’s easy to forget key concepts. It’s also pretty common to hide your head in the sand – a lot of students I work with at the start of Year 13 have NO IDEA how much they have forgotten!

That’s why I’ve put together a little something to get Year 13 off to a great start!

From 1st–5th September, I’m running the FREE 5-Day Chemistry Comeback Challenge — designed to refresh your knowledge, rebuild your confidence, and get you Year 13 ready.

What is the Chemistry Comeback Challenge?

It’s a structured, online mini-course where each day we’ll tackle one of the key areas of Year 12 chemistry:

  • Monday 1st September — Inorganic Chemistry
  • Tuesday 2nd September — Physical Chemistry
  • Wednesday 3rd September — Calculations
  • Thursday 4th September — Organic Chemistry
  • Friday 5th September — Practical & Synoptic

Each day includes:

  • A recap quiz to check what you remember
  • A revision activity designed to strengthen retrieval
  • An exam practice question to apply knowledge
  • A ‘spot the errors’ challenge — to sharpen your exam technique and avoid common mistakes

It’s not just a set of videos to watch passively — you’ll be actively engaging with the material, testing yourself, and identifying what you need to revisit before Year 13 begins.

Why take part?

  • Consistency matters. By committing to 5 focused days, you’ll get back into good study habits before term even starts 📅
  • Confidence boost. You’ll head into Year 13 with a stronger grasp of Year 12 material, ready to build on it. Even if you get things wrong, the important thing is you will KNOW what it is you don’t know 🙃
  • Exam technique. Activities like “spot the errors” make you think like an examiner and avoid the mistakes that cost marks✅
  • It’s free! All materials are online, with answers and video walkthroughs to guide you — plus a live session to tie it all together ▶️

Live Q&A: Saturday 6th September

At the end of the week, I’ll be hosting a live Zoom Q&A to answer any questions you still have. You can send in questions in advance or ask them live — whether they’re about specific topics, exam prep, or revision strategies.

This is your chance to get useful advice before the school year properly kicks off.

How to join

All you need to do is sign up with your email – you’ll then get a link to sign up to the course. If you’ve used one of my courses before, just log in as usual — if not, you can register quickly and easily. I recommend bookmarking the site and saving your login details so you can check back each day. You’ll also get a daily email reminder and the Zoom links for the Q&A will be sent by email, so make sure you check your spam folder!

Who is the challenge for?

Any student about to start Year 13 A-Level Chemistry (all major exam boards). It’s especially useful if you’re aiming for A*–B grades or preparing for upcoming mocks.

Do I need to attend live each day?

No — the daily activities are online, so you can complete them at a time that suits you. The only live session is the Q&A, which is on Saturday 6th September at 11am. The Q&A will also be recorded.

How much does it cost?

Nothing at all — the challenge is completely free. In the Q&A I will tell you about some other free resources I offer, as well as some paid resources and classes for those interested in working with me more.

What if I can’t do every day?

You’ll get the most benefit by completing all 5 days, but even dipping into the topics you find hardest will be valuable. If you join late you can catch up, and the materials will still be available after the live course ends.

What will I need?

Just access to the CK Chemistry website, something to write with and – as always – a periodic table and calculator! It might be good to also have some blank paper and/or a whiteboard. To join the Q&A it’s best if you have the Zoom app installed.
